How to Style Curly Hair Extensions for Bouncy Ringlets

I am completely obsessed with curly hair extensions because they offer the freedom of textured curls that look natural, as if they grew from my scalp. The attention I receive is unbelievable! In this blog, I’ll share my tips and tricks for achieving bouncy, flawless ringlets that everyone loves.

Step 1: Section your hair into 3 to 4 parts and detangle it completely using a steady Denman brush. Ensure all curls are fully brushed out—don’t skip this step, as laziness can cause issues later.

Step 2: Create a mixture of 2/3 conditioner and 1/3 water in a spray bottle. Thoroughly spray each section until it’s completely wet before proceeding.

Step 3: Use your Denman brush to brush through each section from the ends upward, flicking your wrist to help coils form. If step 1 was done properly, there should be no friction. Repeat for all sections. Optionally, apply hair serum or curl cream, but only use curl cream for heavily textured hair like Raw Cambodian Curly Wave or Yummy Soft Kinks, as it can be too heavy for other curl types—less is more.

Step 4: Scrunch each section with a cotton T-shirt to set the coils and stop water from dripping.

Step 5: With hair still sectioned, use a blow dryer with a diffuser head to dry until at least 60% dry; this prevents frizz.

Step 6: Leave the coils alone while drying—avoid touching or running fingers through them to let them air dry fully.

I repeat these steps every other day or when my hair needs a refresh. I hope this guide is helpful!
